Volunteering

At NICHS, we would be unable to provide the range of services we do without the support of volunteers. Nearly everyone knows someone affected by chest, heart or stroke related illness. Would you be willing to give up a little of your time to make a real difference to people’s lives? Whatever time you can spare is valuable to us.

What experience do I need?

No previous experience is necessary but we look for certain qualities such as reliability and good interpersonal skills. You also need to work well as part of a team.

What do I gain from volunteering?

Volunteering offers you the opportunity to meet new people, build confidence, gain experience to add to your C.V. and the chance to develop or learn new skills. It is an opportunity to give something back to your local community and make a difference.

Interested? What Happens Next?

If you are interested in volunteering for NICHS or would like some further information, please contact our volunteering department at volunteer@nichs.org.uk or call us on 028 9026 6707, if you have not received a reply within 2 weeks, please call.

If you decide to go ahead, the volunteering department will send you out a NICHS volunteer registration form to complete. If suitable you may be invited for an informal chat or be contacted by telephone or email to match you to a suitable volunteer opportunity in your area.

If you accept the volunteer position you will be provided with an induction and will join us initially for a trial period of 6 weeks.

All agreed out–of–pocket expenses will be paid to anyone volunteering for NICHS.
