3,500 Chartered Accountants to get active for NICHS
Chartered Accountants Ulster Society, the regional society of Ireland’s biggest accountancy body, Chartered Accountants Ireland, today announces details of its inaugural Charity Day, to be held on Friday 20th April 2012 in aid of NI Chest Heart and Stroke. 3,500 chartered accountants, as well as chartered accountancy students, colleagues, family and friends across Northern Ireland are all encouraged to get active for one great cause – beating cardiovascular disease in Northern Ireland.
Ulster’s Chartered Accountants will be supporting Northern Ireland Chest Heart and Stroke. Fundraising events in Belfast will be part of a wider charity push, with similar events taking place simultaneously in Dublin, Cork, Limerick, Galway and Sligo. Local events will be announced in the coming months.
Chartered Accountants Ulster Society Chairman, Michael Black, commented:
“On behalf of Ulster’s Chartered Accountants, I’m delighted to row in behind the Northern Ireland Chest Heart & Stroke Association. I see this initiative as a fantastic opportunity to get fit and active, while raising much–needed funds for charity. Most of us know some family member or friend who has suffered from a condition associated with heart disease. I believe that our choice of charity reflects the critical importance of tackling this debilitating and fatal condition.”
Vanessa Elder, Fundraising Manager with NI Chest Heart and Stroke said: “We are very grateful to be the nominated charity for the Chartered Accountants Ulster Society Charity Day. As a local charity all money raised will be used to support our local services such as cardiac, stroke and respiratory support groups across Northern Ireland, as well as stroke family liaison teams who help local families to live with life after a stroke.”
The Charity Day is open to colleagues, families and friends, and members of the public are all encouraged to join in the initiative. For more information on the day or to register, please visit www.charteredaccountants.ie/charityday.
